Lonestar automated welding was sub-contracted by McConnell Dowell/CCC to perform automated welding at British Gas limited pipeline, Gladstone, Australia. Automated Welding was required for two components of welding scope including the main pipeline and the delivery station process piping.
Specialised welding labour was introduced for the project through Lonestar which was used for automated fill and cap welding. Process type was outer-shield flux cored welding.
MCJV provided pipe movements & end preparation of 42 inch pipe. An electrode root and hot pass & GTAW root and hot pass was performed using an external clamp. Lonestar Automated Welding was responsible for Auto Flux Cored Filling and Cap welding passes to weld specification AS2885 & ASME IX.
